about

This song was inspired by the brave people of Ukraine and exists to help raise money for a GoFundMe hosted by songwriter Brooke Parrott www.gofundme.com/f/direct-help-for-our-friends-in-ukraine
The song wouldn't exist, however, without my good friend, Pete Saxer, who challenged me to create a song for Ukraine for his special radio show dedicated to the music and people of Ukraine, which aired in April, 2022. So far, more than $10,000 has been raised for Ms. Parrott's GoFundMe. Most of those funds are being used for medical supplies. 100% of any, and all, money this song generates will go to Ms. Parrott's GoFundMe campaign.
Thank you VERY much for considering ponying up a buck, or even more, for this song. Again, it's not going to me. 100% will be invested in the GoFundMe that's providing bandages and more for those enduring the horrors of war in Ukraine, both soldiers and civilians, including children and elders.

lyrics

Verse 1:
I see sunflowers dancing in the breeze,
I see rivers, flowin' to the sea
I hear children . . . laughing in the sun,
But I see storm clouds darkening the horizon
Chorus:
I hear people crying out, crying out as one;
I hear cannons thunder, and an answering gun
I see lifetimes taken, and nothing won.
And all because of the fear of one
Verse 2:
I see fires, raging in the night.
I hear choirs, singing in the camps;
I see teachers and plumbers learning how to fight;
I see preachers and nurses,
lighting up their lamps
Chorus:
I hear countries crying out, crying out as one.
I see nation's rising, and fear on the run
Can we take this war and take a resolute stand;
that peace and freedom can walk hand in hand,
Verse 3:
I see sunflowers nodding in the sun,
I see wheatfields yielding to the wind
I hear mother's calling to their . . . precious children
I see father's . . . who won't return
I see sunflowers dancing in the breeze,
I see sunflowers dancing in the breeze
I see su - u - u - unflowers
Shining in the sun. I see sunflowers, shining in the sun.
I see sunflowers, shining in the sun,
Suuuuuuunflowers
Shining in the sun
Suuuuuuuunflowers
Shining in the sun.
