The title for this song hit me one day, no pun intended.
Well maybe a little.
But I thought about some of the "violence" inflicted on me during love affairs; inflicted by others and self-inflicted. Plus, the pain I inflicted on others. Not physical pain or necessarily the kinds of verbal abuse most of us associate with domestic violence, but the with-holding, the games, the judging, the anger...The Violence of The Heart. I couldn't think of any song that used that exact phrasing. I'm sure they're out there.
Yes, it's another love song, but using - to powerful effect, I hope - the idea of hearts that inflict a certain kind of "violence" on another in the name of love.
All of us who worked on this song hope you dig and find something in it to relate to.
